Problems logging into LegacyApp
Been asked to log in again? Here's why, and why it's fine
Every now and then, LegacyApp may ask you to log in again - and sometimes it even looks like you're setting the app up from scratch. We know that can be annoying. The good news: it's a security measure, not a lost account, and your notes are safe the whole time.
If LegacyApp logs you out - or asks you to go through setup again - nothing is lost. Your notes live on your phone and are backed up in your own cloud. To get back in, take a few quick steps: enter your email, accept the terms, click the Magic Link we send you, and set a PIN. The app then opens right back on your notes.
Why it happens (and why it's actually a good sign)
For your security, LegacyApp signs you out after a longer stretch without logging in. Sometimes it logs you out completely, so the next time you open the app it looks like a fresh registration. It isn't - it's the same account, with the same notes.
This happens for a simple reason: we don't hold your data. Your notes live only on your phone, and even the secure token that keeps you signed in can expire on your device. There's nothing on our servers quietly "remembering" you. Your encrypted backup is always kept in your own Google Drive or iCloud, so nothing is ever lost - it can be restored whenever you need it.
How to get back in: a few quick steps
Whether you just need to sign in again or go through setup from the start, it's the same short path:
That's it. After these steps the app is logged in and opens right back on your notes, exactly where you left off.
